These are some of the lovely things people have said about me
Companionship and Care service
Dee – “Lisa is my companion and carer twice a week and I look forward to her visits. She has helped me to sort out lots of things in my home such as clothing, kitchen cupboards, beauty products, paperwork, etc as well as doing the weekly cleaning and laundry. She also worked with me to create a Family Tree - we use it to check for key birthdays for which she helps me to write and send cards, buying them on my behalf as I’m now in my 80’s. Lisa also gets my weekly food shopping and any other items that I need, and takes me shopping when I am able to do that. She also checks my fridge for out-of-date items. Lisa has also supplied and fitted a towel rail, a shower caddy, some handbag hooks and hung various pictures and framed photos up for me, all of which I’m delighted with. She also organised my move from my previous home to a flat where there is 24/7 on-site care provision for the extra help I need these days. Lisa takes me to all my medical appointments including the chiropodist and liaises with my sister regularly.”
Viv on behalf of Nancy – “Lisa built up a relationship with my Mum, who is in her 90’s, through weekly cleaning which then led on to additional 'companionship hours' involving activities which Mum could take part in and talk about with Lisa such as dusting the china, rearranging the kitchen cupboard contents, etc. My Mum now resides in a care home and goes out only occasionally so has limited contact with the outside world. Lisa visits her regularly for companionship sessions in the care home. Mum benefits from these visits and very much enjoys the company, the opportunity to talk about her life and loves to have her nails painted too. I also appreciate the detailed updates document sent to me after each visit.”
Reablement Care
Andi – “After a major operation Lisa was my reablement carer – helping with shopping, laundry, housework, gardening and other projects around the house. She was always very positive and encouraging, and it was helpful for me to have someone I could really talk to. She made sure I had everything I needed to help with my recovery, and as I started to manage for myself we were able to reduce the number of visits accordingly. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending Lisa at Happy Homes.”
Cleaning service
Jan and Nick – “Lisa has been helping me to keep our home clean for some while now – my partner and I are in our 70’s. I don’t know what I would do without her. She keeps my kitchen and wet room spotless, with the tiles gleaming every week. She also does many other general chores around the house that I can no longer manage myself. She assists with other tasks such as light bulb changing, putting up an “insect screen” outside our door for Summer, and other little jobs that we require. When I’ve had a clear out she takes unwanted items to a local charity shop.
I have peace of mind knowing that I can go out and leave her to get on with it, or I can be at home when she comes and enjoy her company. When I am out I feel confident that she is making sure my partner is O.K. as he has a number of physical and mobility health issues and so does not get out very often. Lisa is cheerful, reliable, trust worthy and an excellent cleaner and companion. In other words she is a little treasure and I have no hesitation in recommending her services. ”
Mary – “Lisa has been cleaning and laundering for me for a long time - she is always thorough and professional as well as friendly and easy to talk to. As my health needs have changed due to reaching my 90’s, Lisa has adjusted her service to include companionship and now some caring tasks. She helps me to go to the toilet, taking urine samples when I have an infection; and assists with showering or washing at the sink when I need help. She also helps me to dress when I am up for that. Lisa makes my breakfast every visit just how I like it. She also liaises with my daughter, my chiropodist, and my other daily carers.
I often tell her that she is a 'born carer'. I know how to recognise one as I worked as a nurse for many years. I like the way she offers me choices - whether that be for breakfast cereal, which duvet cover I would like, or which clothes I wish to wear that day. I look forward to her visits and appreciate that she always makes me feel respected and dignified, and helps me to celebrate my independence in any tasks I can still manage, such as folding the smaller items of laundry. I also enjoy our humorous conversations and reminiscing about my past.”
Gardening service
Amanda – “Lisa has taken over my elderly parents’ garden maintenance. Both have Dementia and various physical illnesses resulting in some mobility issues as well as memory loss and compromised cognitive functions. The garden had fallen into disrepair - Lisa quickly turned it around and my parents have been enjoying her gardening visits for many seasons now. She is a trooper and managed quickly at the start to allay my parents’ fears of someone new with her friendly and supportive approach. Melvyn was a qualified horticulturist so this was no mean feat! She also actively encourages both Barbara and Melvyn to participate in some of the easier gardening tasks whilst she also aids their health and safety, helping them to gain physical exercise, fresh air together with a sense of ownership, independence and wellbeing. Very pleased with her caring work and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone in the future.”
Joyce and Don – “My husband and I, both in our 80’s, have over the last couple of years lost a lot of our mobility due to ill health and the general aging of our bodies. We have a large garden and whilst we have always considered it wildlife friendly, it was gradually becoming overgrown and unmanageable for us. Lisa came to our aid and has been helping to get the garden under control. It will never be a pristine garden with everything in its place and organised - we wouldn’t want that. It has been a real pleasure working alongside Lisa as a team. She waits for my instructions and I am learning to delegate. It is so good to have someone working alongside you and to chat to as we work. I love pottering in the garden and the company of Lisa and the exercise and fresh air has been a big benefit to our physical and mental health - Don is sometimes able to participate in the team work too. Thank you Lisa. I am so glad we found each other.”
Cleaning, Decorating, D.I.Y. AND Gardening services
Adele – “Lisa has transformed our house into a home! We can’t thank her enough for the transformation of our house, she provides a thorough cleaning service with helpful notes at the end of each session for us to liaise over such as products or progress updates, and also with information on additional tasks that we can choose to have carried out to help maintain the now higher standards of our home. Pricing is affordable and realistic so you can book the work you need doing with peace of mind.
Lisa also provides an excellent, affordable decorating and D.I.Y. service with attention to detail. She is incredibly knowledgeable on all matters and able to provide a practical and affordable solution for household improvements.
We can’t thank Lisa enough for her help - whether we have needed cleaning, D.I.Y., house/shed doctoring, decorating or gardening the service has been amazing – we have utilised every service so far with great results!. With her practical and friendly approach she is easy to talk to about any tasks that need doing and provides a thorough breakdown of costings and services, so as a client you are fully informed before going ahead with any work. Lisa is realistic in her approach to all work and provides good communication before, during and after all jobs . We are very satisfied customers indeed! Thank you.”
Kim – “Lisa came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint! Absolutely fantastic service, great client care and communication.
After being quoted up to £3,500 for new sheds, Lisa repaired the sheds at a fraction of the cost (about £200 including materials), they now look as good as new if not better.
It was a challenging job, Lisa explained every step that would be taken, including time scale and products needed. I was supplied with an outline of work to be carried out and costs involved. This was very reassuring after having several experiences of non-completed and incompetent work attempted by other companies. The results were fantastic.
I also like the fact that she undertakes the smallest of maintenance jobs at our home, it is like having our own property manager. She also advised us about other projects we wanted done, and came up with practical solutions… and always adds a bit of glamour or bling that I like. The results have been exceptional.
Nothing fazes Lisa and nothing is too much trouble for her, I have no hesitation in recommending her to everyone without any reservations, you won’t regret it!”
Reference from my former employer:
Steve Battlebury, Green Space Manager – “I can confirm that Lisa Roe was employed for 25 years. We were sorry to see her go as she has been a valuable employee and a great colleague to work with, respected by everyone inside and outside the organisation. During her service she achieved many great things for Parks and the wider Council… Lisa was a great team-player, able to communicate highly effectively with her employees, management, Councillors, other Council officers, and representatives from a wide range of partners, national governing bodies and external agencies. She was also very enthusiastic at all times and highly capable of working on her own initiative with minimal supervision. Her organisational and planning skills are superb. She is also punctual and utterly reliable, with a pleasant manner at all times, and never fails to hit a deadline, no matter what additional work and effort are required to achieve this… I wish her well in any new role and feel she will be an asset to any organisation or indeed to clients, as I understand she is to embark on a self-employed career.”
