Having a good clear out is just wonderful for the soul, and it’s so great to let go of some old stuff which you will never use plus by de-cluttering you get to see the remaining things more clearly and enjoying their own space. If you haven’t needed something for a year or more then you probably won’t need it ever again!
I appreciate sometimes it’s hard to let go, but I can help you rationalise and we can always have a staging area for things you’re not quite ready to let go of, but maybe will be able to part with in a little while.
House doctoring includes storage solutions whether in the house or in your shed, outbuilding, or garden. It can apply to every area of the house including CD or DVD storage, medicine cabinets, cleaning products, jewellery, cosmetics, etc.
I can work with you to re-zone areas of multi-functional rooms; organise everything in a way that will make it easier for you to find things, grouping and arranging items in a sensible order; and show off ornaments to more effect. Less is more! The opportunities to increase efficiency and beauty are endless. A few examples are shown below.
My rate is between £18.00 - £23.00 an hour within the borough of Luton on weekdays. The rate varies according to ease of access; distance between area cleared and any bins, Hippo Bag or skip placement; type/weight/size of objects to be manually handled; plus travelling time and a mileage allowance of £0.50 per mile for any trips to charity shops or relatives etc.
OK so maybe these wall cupboards are not an expense everyone wants to go to, but a great solution for various storage and the colours are so lively and glossy, they reflect light and hide away all those bits and pieces in a beautiful way.
There are cheaper alternatives available for storage which I can happily advise on, supply and put up for you.
This was an exciting three stage project for elderly people who really needed a helping hand with their spare room. It was a joy from start to finish as they are such wonderful people, including liaising with their lovely son and daughter-in-law.
It involved some substantial house doctoring first and then some decorating and a few DIY jobs to make the room beautiful, lighter, more cheerful and fully functioning. My clients are all now also dear friends.
The room was so cluttered at the start we could not even make our way across the room to open the blind, hence the dark photo!
One area above the bed had cork tiles to help prevent cold and damp from an exposed gable wall. I wallpapered over these in a heavy duty stippled wallpaper before painting.
We sorted all the items slowly, carefully, with love and patience. Some made their way to other rooms or outbuildings, others to the charity shop or the tip.
The room was then re-decorated with a cheerful yellow light-reflecting paint, the cork tiles wallpapered first, and the bed re-dressed in new linen and throw. The aerial cable for the TV was hidden underneath the main wardrobe, the cork-tile topped cupboard re-covered in white-faced hardboard, some beading adding to the ceiling, a doorstop added etc. A few more details to follow such as re-covering the headboard to the bed and fitting a new light shade.
Really felt joyful for the clients and me to transform this room!
Again, much needed extra storage in this small kitchen and using dead space. The base unit is on castors and the mini-counter is removable in case the back door needs using at any point. The cupboard unit has been designed and clad to match the flooring which helps create unity and using up left-over materials.
A lovely greenhouse filled with overspill from the house – cleared, cleaned, sorted with the help of the client as to what to keep and what to throw away. Only took 3 hours including disposal of waste to tip in client’s vehicle.
