Gardening service

This is me in my own garden, hopefully helping to demonstrate my high standards of horticulture and design, including the painted sheds in the background.

I offer a wide range of gardening services mainly for elderly and other vulnerable people - including initial garden clearance/tidy-up, leading on to regular maintenance including pruning, weeding, lawn mowing/edging, lawn treatments if required, planning and planting of shrubs, perennials and summer/winter bedding for borders and hanging baskets, plus overall garden design and any advice required.

I am a qualified gardener/horticulturist with Distinction in my examination, albeit it was quite a few years ago now (my Certificate is at the bottom of this page).

I am totally enthusiastic - as much about my clients’ gardens as I am my own. I’m environmentally friendly and happy to suggest planting to encourage bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects plus visiting birds.

Wherever possible I encourage my clients to participate in the garden maintenance even if for small manageable tasks, under my caring wing. I ask them for advice and a priority list as to certain tasks or projects they would like to be undertaken on each visit. This way we build a team spirit, increasing the clients’ wellbeing both mentally and physically. Also they have a greater sense of ownership and control over their own garden.

Clients’ lovely garden

My rate is £21.00 an hour within the borough of Luton on weekdays, including any time required to pack up/unpack any required tools, plus the cost of any materials used. Advice will be provided as to the best quality/value tools and equipment required for future visits and I can buy these and deliver if required on next visits. Surcharges apply for any client’s residence beyond a 6 mile radius and/or 20 minute travelling time from my home, also for any required weekend work – please see my Terms, Conditions and Policies page for further detailsIf an update document is required after each visit - to be provided to the client’s Power of Attorney, family member or advocate - the standard charge of £10.00 per update/visit applies.

Bench and rockery area

Plum slate is such a lovely medium for gardens and really helps show up the greenery of the surrounding plants.

Garden borders

A new path, I didn’t want it 100% straight as that’d be just too clinical, life and gardens are meandering.

A front and a back garden in need of help. This is an ongoing project to restore the garden to its former glory. The couple who live here are a husband who was previously a fantastic professional gardener and was assisted by his very capable and enthusiastic wife… unfortunately they are now unable to maintain it all without help due to their ill health. It is an absolute pleasure to work with them and bring it all back to life.
