Decorating and D.I.Y. service

I offer a redecoration service of a professional finish to suit all budgets and tastes (includes sheds and fences). Advice on colour schemes and purchase of materials can also be provided.

One of my unique selling points is that I undertake an extensive clean of any room I have redecorated or have undertaken a D.I.Y. job within the room - and put everything back where it was previously placed.

D.I.Y. includes putting up shelves, towel rails, blinds, curtain poles, patching holes in walls, repairing sheds or other damaged/worn/weathered items, assembling flat-pack furniture and general repair work for the house, sheds or other out-buildings, etc.

Cloakroom project
Before - Cloakroom sink, window and pipework

A transformed Cloakroom for which I undertook Project Management including liaison with builders for plumbing and carpentry, suppliers for sanitary fittings and the flooring company.

This project also included research for appropriate sanitary fittings, flooring, blind and paint colour etc on behalf of the client.

The preparation, painting and tiling was undertaken by myself.

Before - Cloakroom toilet cistern wall
After - Cloakroom toilet and boxing in, plus tiling
After - Sink unit, blind and towel rail wih wall art
After - Wall and cistern unit tiling, plus wall cupboard

Landing wall project

This project resulted from a leak in my house from shower fittings in the bathroom. Instead of having the pre-existing plasterboard and plastered surface replaced as they were, I decided it would be more practical to have access panels for any future maintenance. I also fitted a water alarm in the base, so any moisture will be detected and the alarm will let me know immediately. So I thought it would be nice to make this a decorative feature - with 3 equidistant panels, painted in different colours, and with chrome screw caps for added effect. Not the easiest painting job ever, but worth the effort in the end – I now prefer it to how it looked before with just a plain wall.

Landing with access panels as wall art

This was an exciting three stage project for elderly people who really needed a helping hand with their spare room. It was a joy from start to finish as they are such wonderful people, including liaising with their lovely son and daughter-in-law.

It involved some substantial house doctoring first and then some decorating and a few DIY jobs to make the room beautiful, lighter, more cheerful and fully functioning. My clients are all now also dear friends.

The room was so cluttered at the start we could not even make our way across the room to open the blind, hence the dark photo!

One area above the bed had cork tiles to help prevent cold and damp from an exposed gable wall. I wallpapered over these in a heavy duty stippled wallpaper before painting.

We sorted all the items slowly, carefully, with love and patience. Some made their way to other rooms or outbuildings, others to the charity shop or the tip.

The room was then re-decorated with a cheerful yellow light-reflecting paint, the cork tiles wallpapered first, and the bed re-dressed in new linen and throw. The aerial cable for the TV was hidden underneath the main wardrobe, the cork-tile topped cupboard re-covered in white-faced hardboard, some beading adding to the ceiling, a doorstop added etc. A few more details to follow such as re-covering the headboard to the bed and fitting a new light shade.

Really felt joyful for the clients and me to transform this room!

Filled, sanded, re-painted, radiator cabinet assembled and painted with wallpaper sample on top, TV sound bar shelf added. Throw for bed and curtain tie backs made, laundry basket painted and re-upholstered (just a glimpse of it on the right).

A little glimpse of a redecorated room, lots of sanding and filling required, then a classy pale grey added and woodwork primed, under-coated and three top coats. A lovely transformation.

I also re-paint sheds. My clients to date have been extremely happy with the results, providing a happier outlook on the outside and sometimes a “beach hut” type experience to make them feel like they’re on hols!

Transformed shed with mirror

Shed heat-stripped and scraped off paint, rotten boards removed, new boards screwed in, primed and painted. See Gallery projects for before shots too.

I am affectionately known these days as “The Queen of Sheds”!
